Dan, sounds like you need Exchange Server 2003 my friend. You *** MAY *** be 
able to store the mailboxes on your storage device, and then replicate the 
registry amongst your 5 boxes and then configure Network Load Balancing to 
distribute 1 static IP over the 5 boxes (point your MX record to this IP).
