Gary,

Yes, the client does make use of session variables on the server. We do not use any cookies for the client.

Are these customers of a specific type - such as corporate, novice, power users, etc? Also, is there a common denominator with the browser and browser version? Are they all in the same domain?

I agree with your observation that some firewall products could impact the product, but since the session variables are limited in scope to the server I don't believe that would cause people to be unable to log in.

Have you tried logging in to one of these accounts from a non-local machine? If you can try this and still gain access to the accounts, then we can explore whether it is a browser issue with the customers.

Please, post any follow-up to the forum.

Thanks!

Subject: [IMail Forum] IMail 2006 web users can't login - even with full email address

Since converting to IMail 2006 I'm having a few customer report that they cannot login to the new web interface.  These are virtual accounts and they are using the full email address as account name.  I am able to log in as them from my computer using their login/pwd and have confirmed they have the correct login info.

It appears something is different in IMail 2006 that's causing certian logins to fail when they worked under 8.1.  I don't know where to begin looking or what to tell them.

Is Imail using session variables in this version?  I'm an ASP developer and have run into cases before where disabled cookies or other browser security settings block session variables.  I've also seen cases where Norton Internet Security or other firewall software blocks session cookies.

Thanks,
Gary

btw,  I've had a string of problems with this upgrade but I'm sticking with it.  Most of my problems stemmed from having selected one domain for IIS in the installation,  then manually moving the virtual directories to another domain after it was finished.
