Why announce a critical patch for an outdated version???

This is an excellent question, one that we had a few discussions
about this
week, internally.
Traditionally, the Messaging product line has done this but
typically, for

I hope both these responses are in jest... 8.2 may have a very long
shelf life if the current resource problems are not sorted out in
version 9.
Also I would hope that any decent company that cared about it's
products from a business integrity standpoint would update their
products if serious vulnerabilities are found at least back one
version number. I'm surprised this was even a consideration at ipswitch.
