Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Restoring imail without a backup of the registry keyHi Jim,
I think your are sitting now in deep s....
The data stored in the registry is the heart of IMail. Everything, really everything is stored there: Data about Domains, Users and the general
Setup.
I think, without a backup of the registry, you're complete lost. There is no way to restore the data in any way.

When we set up our new backup system a few months ago, we set it up to back up the imail directory every day but we neglected to backup the registry in any way.
Our mail server went down yesterday and there is a good chance we will need to re-install the operating system. We can easily install imail and then copy in the backed-up imail directory. But, from what I can tell, the registry is actually the most important part when moving a backed-up copy of imail onto a new hard drive.
Is there some way to restore imail without a copy of the registry key?
If not, is there at least a way to go into our backed-up imail directory and get lists of all the domains and users and such? That way we can install imail, then manually set up all the domains and users and everything (thus re-building the imail registry) and then copy in our backed-up directory?

Agreed. You need to get that registry
information somehow. Everything that was your Imail setup was in there...unless
you were using AD or a database to store your user information.
