Hello Heimir and all, I understand the frustration... I've personally been on dozens of calls and emails resolving issues, including over the holidays.
But we are not trying to deceive customers and sorry that you feel that way. There are lots of customers running IMail 2006 and 2006.01 and for the most part, are pleased. BUT, setting up and configuring has been painful for lots of customers! That is the hands down truth. Although the call volume has been a little higher than previous major releases, the call durations are currently taking longer. Coupled with holidays, which have led to flash calling (no calls for several days then a bursts), this has led to the longer hold times. But note that we WILL stay on any customer call until the customer is fully running, however long that takes. The main items that I've seen reported have been web messaging performance (we believe to be mostly addressed in IMail 2006.01), parity issues (features that used to exist in the old templates) and IIS/Config issues (partially addressed in IMail 2006.01). For something like print, other features were ranked higher in priority (given worst case, you can browser print) but it has come up a few times now and we plan to add it back (as was the case with "Delete All" and "Host/List Admin" links). Even though we ran a 2 month beta and deployed and ran IMail 2006 in production for 1 month before ship, many items did not reveal themselves until 100's - 1000's of customers started deploying in disparate environments. We have, no doubt, run into IIS configuration issues related to running web messaging templates but once IIS is configured correctly, customers seem to be okay. We were not aware of core performance issues that still exist that weren't addressed in IMail 2006.01. If customers are running into performance issues, please contact me directly and we'll address or figure out why. We are working on another short term upgrade (IMail 2006.02). If you have a specific defect or parity or performance issue you want or need addressed, sent it directly to me so we can prioritize. On the list currently are: Web Messaging Templates: Public Contacts, Int'l Languages (Ge, Fr, Sp, It), Link to Web Calendar and Print Web Admin: The ability to change the IP Address or Host Name from within the Web Admin Other: SMTPD - slow DNS response delays 250 response to EOM As always, feedback welcome. bye for now, kg -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Heimir Eidskrem Sent: Wednesday, January 04, 2006 2:58 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] contacts conversion Not to start another bitching thread but this is pretty bad. 2006 is obviously not ready for release. I feel deceived by Ipswitch. When I was told that 2006 would be out November 28 I had already planned to go to Smartermail but seeing Ipswitch getting their version out first we did pay for a service contract. Now its obvious that Ipswitch knew that many of us would have left if Smartermail released first - so they released a product they well knew was not ready. My concern now is the reported web mail performance issue. Will this be addressed in the next release? H.
