I would say that if they can add just a few more features they'll grab quite a few imail customers. The only thing that's held us up is the lack of ODBC dsn capability. I just don't see us paying ipswitch $1000 a year for "support" which we wouldn't need to use if the product worked as advertised. Why should we pay ipswitch $1000 when an unlimited license of Smartermail is less than that. A few more features and it's game over.

you really think it is only two weeks away now?

They still don't have port 587 auth-only support. Promised in v3,
but.......

I paid about $200 for smartermail and we dumped imail altogether.
Smartermail handles many more emails per day with less CPU overhead than
imail and we haven't had any problems with it. The webmail is better, too.

There are a few enhancements we're looking for and they should be out in
version 3 within the next couple of weeks.

I monitor this list just because once in a while there is some good info
here.

You are right.
If Ipswitch dont do the right thing here it will be ugly.

HMMMMM... now here is a question... I just paid good money for a license

for

the 2006 product, that apparently isn't working yet... The thoughts that
cross my mind are that sooner then later they will be asking us for

service

contracts for the next year for a product that even by then might not be
working fully...

So the question is, should we as a group - class action if need be

depending

on their (Ipswitchs') willingness to do the right thing - should we be
looking for a refund of our monies paid or an extension of our yearly
service agreement...

It's clear this new product wasn't even ready...

Ipswitch come to the table for your long standing and incredibly loyal
client base....

I strongly recommend you stay with your current working version for now.

I

have personally spent over 10 hours on the phone with tech support (or

on

hold waiting for them) and it is impossible to get a correctly working
version of Imail 2006 at this time. Even the tech support people have
demonstrated frustration with Ipswith on this issue.

Save yourself a lot of headaches and MAD customers. Stay where you are

for

now.

We are currently running Imail 8.21 and I'm looking to upgrade to 2006

but

after reading about the headaches here I'm wondering if that's such a

good

idea? We run ASSP for anti-spam & McAffee Webshield SMTP for antivirus

all

before the mail gets to imail so it's purely a delivery platform. Is

there

an overriding benefit in upgrading or should we stay where we are and
possibly bite the bullet and upgrade only when a killer new feature
arrives? We host about 20 domains but all bar two only have aliases in
them to direct mail to our main address where we have ~150 mail

accounts.

Thanks in advance for your input.
