I don't know of any hard limits, but I had the same observation running IMAP
on a large account. It does help to break the mail up into a number of
folders because each folder has its own file.
Having said that, the main issue for me is a security concern - keeping that
much material on a publicly accessible server. That's the main reason I
switched back to POP myself after several years using IMAP.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Imail mail box size limit
Hi Imail fans,
I have a couple of IMAP mailboxes that are 2.1Gb in size (yes I know way
to big), some of my users are using Outlook express to access there imap
account (on a local LAN), and OE is starting to have an issue reading the
BIG mailbox.
I am in the process of pruning / deleting / moving messages from that mail
box, But does OE or IMAP have a mailbox size limit that it can work with.
Im running Imail 8.22 on a W2k server formated with NTFS
Thanks
Gordon
