If a new switch will give us the capability we need, then I don't see a need for anything else. However, we would like to have features like reporting and a management GUI. I haven't bought a new managed switch in a very long time, so I don't know if there are any out there that will provide that functionality (these Cisco 2900XL's are the only managed switches I have experience with, and they definitely don't support QoS according to Cisco Tech Support).-----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Pete McNeil Sent: Tuesday, April 25, 2006 12:34 PM To: Dan Horne Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] WAY OT: Bandwidth Management (once more with feeling) On Tuesday, April 25, 2006, 12:00:00 PM, Dan wrote: DH> I know this has been discussed before on this list, but what are you DH> guys using for bandwidth management, and what are your experiences? Isn't this something that can be reasonably handled by most managed switches? To clarify, you may not get exactly what you want with a managed switch, but with a bit of tweaking (your network topology) you may get most of it.
