Hello
All,
I just
want to add some clarifications here.
SMTPD32 should, in "normal" use, be utilizing approximately
75-100MB. Peaking at 300-400MB at busy times is expected as well. If
others are seeing memory usage above 500MB or 750MB, then something is
happening.
We
continue to turn around releases every 45 or so days and have another scheduled
for next month so we will strive to be as responsive as possible in adding
new features, addressing parity issues or other defects reported to
Technical Support.
bye
for now,
kg
we ran imail 6 through 8.22 on a Windows
2K DM for years. When we upgraded to 8.0x we noticed what appeared to be a
memory leak in smtpd32. When I brought this to the attention of ipswitch tech
support they said it was now normal for smtpd32 to use 300 MB's of ram so I
dropped it.
For 2006 we bought a brand new server running Win 2K3 and
is a DM with dual procs and 2 GB's of ram. Now, we're seeing smtpd32 run up to
using as much as 800 MB's of ram! We're restarting it daily to bring it to
"normal" levels.
I've waited 3 weeks for ipswitch to resolve this issue
and am pretty much being ignored since they can't reproduce the problem. This
is what $1000 SA gets you these days from Ipswitch.

IMHO we're having problems they can't fix nor troubleshoot is why
this is now a recommendation.

I just
finished reading the release notes for .04a, http://www.ipswitch.com/support/imail/guide/2006/2006_04/IMail_RelNotes.htm.
It mentions under "Required Software":
"Do not deploy
IMail on a Windows 2000 Domain Controller in an Active Directory
environment."
My predecessor and I have done this since 2001.
What problems should I be experiencing?
