The reason for the recommendation is that Windows 2000 Domain controllers
have been the most problematic for users. Thanks to changes in .04 in the
way that Authentication and interfacing with AD are handled, many of these
concerns are no longer an issue. Please note that this advice is mainly for
new installs. If you already have Imail installed on a 2000 DC and
everything is working, the old adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
applies.

I would stick with Ipswitch's recommendations. However, I'm a small business
with 100 users running 2006.04 on a Windows 2003 Server running AD. Perhaps
I am inviting trouble, but at the moment I have had no issues. I was
actually unaware of this until shortly after having already upgrading. I
suppose at some point I should demote it and promote one of my other
servers.

Subject: [IMail Forum] IMail and AD

I just finished reading the release notes for .04a,
http://www.ipswitch.com/support/imail/guide/2006/2006_04/IMail_RelNotes.htm.

It mentions under "Required Software":

"Do not deploy IMail on a Windows 2000 Domain Controller in an Active
Directory environment."

My predecessor and I have done this since 2001.

What problems should I be experiencing?
