I use paragon as well and it does backup an image in realtime. It won't however if you have terminal services installed. Not just running but installed. For some reason the hotcore.sys driver doesn't install with TS installed.
But, paragon is a great product I've used it alot and always had good success. They have a cd now that works as it boots the server and sees drives and finds images.
