I think, the information you posted is wrong.

The SA for AV Standard has nothing to do updating process of the signatures.
Without an SA the update of the signatures worked over the last years
without any interruption.

I don't anybody who bought an SA for AV Standard ever. We never sold one to
our customers. I'm think an SA was never available, at least not in my area.
Also the software was never updated, the software is on the same release
like in 2004. 

IF somebody would own an SA for AV Standard, how would it work? AV Standard
has no serialisation process, nothing. AV Standard  is a simple software,
only a bunch of files. If an SA was available, it was a placebo.

The signature update worked until 26 of june (without an SA) until somebody
pressed a button. I think, that somebody at Bitdefender realized, that the
oem contract with Ipswitch is no longer valid and this was the reason to
shutdown the update.

I have no problem to pay a fee for the regular update of the signatures. I
have problems to accept, that the update of the signatures was terminated
without any announcement. And i have problems to accept angry customers.
Anti-Virus protection is important. The only reason we didn't realize this
earlier is, that we use AV on our FireWall and an additional Scanner in
mxGuard.
