IMGate remains completely free.

Just 3 policies have been seen to block 70+% of all inbound as crap, providing the greatest relief for the mail servers, including just about all infected mail:

1.. rejecting unknown recipients.

2. greylisting (specifically, postgrey for postfix)

3. rejecting unverifiable/bad senders.

Add in :

1. further offload to IMGate the outbound mail delivery to Internet, with its superior logging and fine tuning of params.

2. Imail + its add-ons use the IMGate DNS, meaning a vast majority of their DNS queries will be cached in the IMGate machine's DNS, further speeding up IMail processing.

The separate MX/gateway allows blocking access from Internet to Imail port 25, forcing Internet submitters to submit exclusively to Imail port 587 under SMTP AUTH.

IMGate is not tied to Imail, so many IMail admins have migrated to other mailbox server products without touching their IMGate MXs.
