At a minimum I would like to see deleted items removed permanently instead of being sent to the deleted items folder as the default in their preferences.  Ideally as an Admin, I would like to be able to set the default web messaging preferences for all new users and perform mass changes as I can for their mailbox attributes.

Other than this, things are peachy.

Hi Will

Thanks for the feedback.

Regarding this, are you looking for a default  in which all deleted mail does not go into the Deleted Folder and is permanently deleted?  Also, can the default be changed by the end user or is this a persistent default set by the admin per domain?

"I am no longer waiting for fixes per se, but I am looking forward to Default user preferences for web messaging to avoid an issue where users deleted items folder fills up to their maximum account size."

bye for now,

I was one of the original users to unfortunately upgrade to 2006 when it came out.  I did eventually upgrade from 8.22 to 2006.04a successfully.  I did have a hiccup and needed to verify system permissions to my user folders and Imail registry values so users could change their preferences and rules, but after that it ran as advertised.

I am currently running 2006.1 without issue and would say that my mail is running smoother than ever.  Customers are now used to the new web interface so we no longer receive complaints about that either.  It is nice to have the mailbox size indicator back with 2006.1 and they fixed the issue with orphaned mail in the spool folder.

I believe your service agreement entitles you to your upgrade as long as it was valid upon release, so if it has expired recently, you should still be entitled to 2006 and all its patches.

How many people have yet to upgrade? I've not seen sufficient messages in this forum saying the iMail 2006 is as stable as my current version 8.22.

The following is my response to an advertising email to renew my service agreement from ipswitch:

To be honest, us loyal customers that extended our service agreements for another year but never got a full year of new working stable software should be compensated.

I paid for iMail 2006 but never installed it because it has yet to reach stable levels. Personally I am very unhappy that ipswitch looked the other way and took our money without ever compensating anyone for the false advertising of a product as stable and ready for production when it was not.... We should all get another year of service contract without having to pay twice for what has not yet been provided...

Thank you for your email.

There were various bugs in the IMail Server that was released  in December of 2005.

However the minor release of 2006.1 has been in development since last December, and was released early September 2006.

This proves, and we are confident that this is a much more stable, reliable, user friendly version of IMail Server.

What's been done to 2006.1:

-Improved performance in the Queue Manager and Web Messaging, now up to 50% Faster

- Added Active Directory support

-Improvements to web messaging including personal groups, streamlined address book management and more

-Improved public contacts list

-Improved SMTPD performance and more

I would recommend trying out a free trial evaluation of the IMail Server  2006.1 and see the difference for yourself.

Please let me know if I can be of any further help!

Thank you,

Regards,
