Well, it's a non-issue now. I mistakenly deleted the mailbox when trying to delete messsages. Not that big of a deal since the emails also end up on the user's Blackberry, so he does have a copy of any he's missing.

Thanks for the help.

Not much you can do there, other than load the file up in a text editor and take out everything old, or just set up an account and download the messages if you think there are any of value.

There is a utility called immsgexp.exe, but I have not had much luck with very large files. It works great at keeping the files down to a reasonable size if you run it as a batch, but once they get over some size that I've never quite figured out, it behaves as you describe. I think that's probably the exe that is called by the control panel.

Tried this and they won't delete. Dialog goes away after a few seconds when clicking Ok, but the emails remain. IMail version is 8.05.

If you are using 8.22 or older you can go in via the IMail Admin and
delete by date or some other options. Just find his email in there and
right-click on the mailbox.

Subject: [IMail Forum] 6000 plus messages in mailbox

Have a user that at some point disabled his client from deleting emails during retrieval and now has over 6000 messages sitting in his mailbox, which is choking his mail client and also the IMail web interface. How can I ditch all but the last few days worth of messages from his
mailbox?
