Hi,

Thanks for the reply Dave, it doesn't seem like I'm in "SOS" mode. I have
not had any problems in the past and all of a sudden one day SMTP and
Queuemgr goes berserk.

My IMail box does have MS DNS server already installed in caching server
mode and the TCP/IP's DNS setting is pointed to a external DNS server.
Although the IMail's SMTP DNS server was pointed to the local DNS server but
I changed it to 127.0.0.1 but that didn't resolve the issue.

Does anyone know a way to monitor incoming and outgoing mail traffic with
IMail or a way to get some statistics?

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon-

Maybe this ground was covered by others, by you seem still be in "SOS" mode.

What about DNS? There is an old issue with IMail and DNS resolvers. The
following configuration solves the problem:

Your IMail box should have the Microsoft DNS Server service installed. The
default installation is as a caching server, which is exactly what you need.

The Network | TCP/IP params should specify high speed DNS resolvers provided
by your access provider, NOT your local DNS servers, which should be set for
no recursion.

The IMail SMTP DNS server should be set to 127.0.0.1

The old IMail docs say you can use multiple resolvers by specifying ip
addresses separated by spaces in the IMail SMTP property sheet. In fact,
this has never worked. Microsoft does a competent job of resolving
addresses, and the reference to 127.0.0.1 simply tells IMail to rely on the
Microsoft DNS service.
