Should I send you that $20 :)
Certainly outsourcing to a managed service, and mine is certainly not
the only one, would be my recommendation to those that value labor and
results more than they value the simple math of counting hard costs.
That's why I offer a service anyway, because I believe it is often the
best choice. There are many different advantages, and the most often
mentioned disadvantage of losing some control ends up being really an
advantage in disguise since you no longer need to touch such things and
you are getting more as a result. Clearly not every service is created
equally, and I would stay away from the McDonald's spam blocking outfits
of the world (Postini, Brightmail, MessageLabs, FrontBridge, MXLogic,
etc.). You will never have direct involvement with the people at those
companies that really matter, and their results typically fall short of
our own by 10 to 100 times in terms of leaked spam. Same goes for the
magical black-boxes or all-in-one software packages.
Hopefully I haven't crossed the line here, and I'm not interested in
promoting my service as there are opportunities on every corner and
people are pretty good at finding me as is, but the recommendation
stands on it's own. People spend both too much money on magical
solutions and too much labor playing with things, and their results will
never come close in more than 99 times out of every 100 that try.

Well I will say again that I thought about some alternate solutions, IMGATE,
ASSP, Tweaking IMAIL and Declude.... I finally decided that I was spending
way too much time reviewing and tweaking. I had Matt Bramble from Mailpure
Gateway(and migrate) my Imail. After the first week he had been handling
it, my spam went way way down. Now I am spending almost no time worrying
about it and even less time doing anything with spam. That would be my
suggestion if you can deal with giving up some control.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Thinking about upgrade. Looking for opinions.
I have decided to look into a more advanced version of Imail Server, such as
Imail Server Plus. Are there any users who are running this iteration, and
satisfied with its antispam capabilities? These past weeks have been
incredibly hard on us, and our company may be ready for an upgrade to our
present system.
Either that, or some great suggestions on tweaking the antispam capabilities
of plain old Imail Server.
Thanks!!
