An excellent point; VERP-type addresses are designed to be parsed by a
mailbox/list server, and if said server is not also your MX, you'd
either need to write a RegEx-type recipient filter (which still
wouldn't stop fake VERP addresses, but at least would let the real
ones through) or give up completely.
IMail doesn't natively support a wildcard or RegEx kind of recipient
filter, *but* do the VERP addresses take the form
<username>-<some string of characters...>
or some other standard separator, like '+'?
If so, after a SQL query to get the usernames, IMail would interpret
<username> as a mailbox and <somestring of characters> as a
submailbox. As long as the "far left" side of the usernames is
knowable, and IMail supports the separator character as a submailbox
separator, then this would work immediately without trying to
reconstruct <some string of characters>.
Alternately, are you _sure_ you can't construct them all the time on
the fly? Lyris must store all the identifying information (numeric UID
corresponding to subscribed e-mail address, whatever) somewhere in
SQL, no? And it must be stable over some period of time, or people
couldn't keep using the same addresses. Sure we couldn't query it out
and reconstruct working VERP addresses ourselves?
