No, I understand. Just a habit I am all too used to. Later,

Travis, the whole thing about not purging is that once this happens, then
you should go to the web mail interface and see if you can still read the
body of the messages that you have not purged. This is part of
troubleshooting 101, leave the evidence for reviewing.

Greed- the messages were purged long before I posted. They aren't there.
This does not help me one way or the other. Why oh why does Imail choke
when I have 300-500 messages in my INBOX? I have set the timeout to 10
minutes in Outlook to see if this fixes anything. My guess is that it will
not. I will see what happens tomorrow - in the meantime I am forwarding my
mail to a Linux Sendmail (CentOS) server I setup up and I am IMAPing it from
there. The problem lies with IMAPing all of those message from the Imail
server. This seems like it only popped up after my upgrade to 2006.1 as
when I come in every morning there are around 300-500 messages in my inbox
and over the weekend there are maybe 2-4 thousand. If it when it happens
again, I will not Purge the messages (habit I go everyone around here in
to).

I wish we could look past the fact that they were purged and look more on, I
posted the logs, I posted the settings I have in Outlook 2003, I have posted
my network setup (well lack there of) and still the problem persists. I
have been running Imail since version 4 and this is the first time I am
seeing this with a large number of messages.

Help please.

T

Like others have said, if it is set up as an IMAP account, Outlook does not
"download and delete" the entire message from the server unless you have
misconfigured something in Outlook. That is the design and purpose of an
IMAP account.

It is about 300-400 emails and some are plain text, some are HTML, some are
RTF. I don't use McAfee anything. It only happens when there are a large
number of messages to IMAP. When it is typical send/receive during the day
everything seems fine.

Are the emails in HTML format? And what Anti-virus is being used on this
machine?

Not that is the problem, but whenI've seen this issue it was related to
McAfee's anti-spam blocking the content in HTML formatted emails.

Thanks,

Julie

So you're using POP, not IMAP?

It is after I pull them down into Outlook, they aren't on the server
anymore.

Are the messages blank when viewing them in web mail?

You might check your spooldir.. Blank messages can result if the drive your
spooldir is on fills up.

Subject: [IMail Forum] IMAP Blank Emails

When I open my Outlook 2003 in the morning and if I have a large number of
messages in my inbox, say 300-500, it will download most of them with blank
bodies. How can I stop this? I hate having to write everyone I see an
email from and ask them to resend it. I always get the subject and to/from,
but always blank bodies.

Help Please.
