About the "nobody" - alias and the way it (doens't) work...

It's getting cler to me that indeed nobody understands the importance of it
in a setup as we (and others) use.
To keep it short: when using the nobody-alias there are no "real users"
made on the Imail-system.
Everything for a domain goes into one mailbox. This is read remotely by
things as FtGate. So far so well.
But here is the important stuff:
We have several somains setup this way. Some domains belong to the same
group of people. They want to be able to mail each-other !!!! But NO, they
are not in the same domain, NO they are not in the same location.
So: they send mail out (SMTP), it get's to OUR Imail-server, wich does not
know the user and puts the mail in the nobody-alias... you would think.
NO, it doesn't when the mail originates from a domain within the same
Imail-server !!! Becayse then the nobody-trick is not used and Imail tries
to dliver to the right user, wich does not exist, and rejects the mail with
a 'user non local".
I hope everyone gets the point: as long the domains are "way apart" this
nobody-thingy works. But as soon the domains are on the same Imail-server,
it doesn't work.
Also imagine this: WE ourselves can NOT mail our customers on our
Imail-server. Becuase... the user-names do not exist and everything for
their domain SHOULD go into one mailbox. But it doesn't when "Imail only"
is concerned. It DOES when mail comes from domains OUTSIDE our server.
So, the more domains we set up, the more poeple can NOT mail each other...
Unless I make aliases (pointing to the same mailbox) for every user our
customers create on theur (remote) FtGate - system.
It wonders me why nobody seems to get the point here... Not such a
"demanding" setup IMHO. Just using things as they are supposed to work, no ?

I don't understand this nobody thing: "-multiple domains and the
'nobody-alias': when hosting multiple domains,
when using the nobody-alias (and NO 'real users') then users can NOT mail
each-other between domains on the same Imail-system (non local user). So
Imail is not "real multi-domain" ! Or... the 'nobody-alias' - system should
be rebuild / retought from ground zero. (Because stuff as the CC - trouble
is also related to the 'nobody' -trick."
Doesn't this require there be another mail server on the other end (is that
what FTgate is, or does FTgate just feed the mail to a real mail server)?
Why can't the users on the remote system use their local email server rather
than IMail? And if there isn't a real mail server on the other end of this
gateway, then isn't this really a mickey-mouse arrangement bastardizing the
use of the "nobody" alias in a way for which it was not designed?
