In my experience, big is not equal to "good quality" and certainly not necessarily "customer centric". They MIGHT have a very isolated "limitation" that their first level support simply can't get their arms around and so it never gets fixed. If it was a small company, someone familiar with SMTP messages would simply take a minute to inspect an incoming message vis-à-vis their application and then point out what causes the behavior. Lacking an expert on their end, YOU can INSPECT the full Webmail messages (header and body) that IMail generates and satisfy yourself that neither you (nor the various email application you use, such as Hotmail, Google, AOL, Outlook, Thunderbird) have any trouble receiving those Webmail messages. Consequently, it does look somewhat unique to Palm/Verizon. Keep in mind, it doesn't even have to be an simple black and white issue where one is clearly at fault. Right now I would define it as an incompatibility between Imail and Treo/Verizon and would avoid pointing the finger without having facts. It can simply be matter of ONE application sticking to ONE extreme minimum of the protocol (e.g., omitting something that is recommended and common practice but NOT required in the RFCs), while the other one takes the other extreme and EXPECTING that item, even though it's optional. You can choose where to point the finger at - at the application that omits something that it CAN omit, but ideally should NOT, or at the application that expects something that it should see under ideal circumstances, but should NOT rely on. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Marc Catuogno Sent: Friday, May 18, 2007 12:41 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] IMail 2006.21 - HTML not readable on PALM OS So every other HTML email is readable on this client (which is not third party software, it is the default setup and Email for Verizon on this device) even the old 8.22 email was readable and the fault is with the Palm Treo? It SHOULD be RFC complaint or it IS RFC compliant? Palm and Verizon are pretty big, I would think if they had a problem getting HTML email in general that they would've addressed it. I will call Verizon, I will see if I can get through to someone, but it seems to me that the logic on this list is flawed.
