Hi Dave,

I think you're right on target with this. Anyone who sends newsletters
knows that it's best to send both HTML and text versions in the email. The
same should probably apply to web messaging.

Darin.

My 2c...

My daughter has had three different model Palm Treo devices using Palm OS
and Windows. Aside from a ridiculous number of hardware problems, she had a
lot of oddball messaging issues. She recently gave up and got a standard
phone. I have two customers who make extensive use of Palm, and their
experience has been the same on both issues.

And we all know that Verizon does things its own way when it suits them.

So, I wouldn't be too quick to blame it totally on IMail.

OTOH, IMail DOES have a long history of problems with Webmail.

So I wouldn't be too sure about blaming it totaly on Palm and/or VZ, either.

I just sent myself a message from the webmail interface, and sure enough,
there is no text-only section of the message. HTML only. For compatibility's
sake, I think it would be a great idea to include a text-only section within
every HTML message, and I suspect that may be what is at the core of this
particular issue.

And for whoever it was that complained about rich text postings here, if
somebody is posting from the webmail client, it's html-only unless you
remember to pull down the message options and set the message to text-only
each time. You can't set that as a default preference, only a per-message
basis. This should be a domain and user-level preference, with the user
default propagated down from the domain-level settings.
