============================================================================ ================ The inability to easily un sub scribe from an Imail server has always been an issue. Imail has always had problems with the ability to process sub scribe and un sub scribe commands that are not sent in PLAIN TEXT messages. Additionally, when responding to a message and you want to un sub scribe, the word, un sub scribe must be the only think in the subject field. (without the spaces as shown in this example). NO "RE:", NO "[IMail Forum]", just the word un sub scribe, without spaces. You can also un sub scribe by sending a BLANK, PLAIN TEXT e-mail to Unsubscribe[newsletter name here]@ domain name here. In the case of this list, it would be "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" with NOTHING in either the SUBJECT or BODY of the message as a PLAIN TEXT MESSAGE. Unfortunately the SUB CSCRIBE command, "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" in the case of the Imail_Forum list does not allow for opt-in confirmation. I wrote a web interface this, that forces a confirmation response by the person subscribing or unsubscribing, and that response MUST also be PLAIN TEXT. For AOL users, that's a near impossibility because any response by AOL includes the original message as an attachment and that's definitely not a PLAIN TEXT message body. You can see an example of this at http://newsletter.bailiwick.org and try it with both the subscribe and unsubscribe options. If you use PLAIN TEXT for the response to either it works, if you use any other format, HTML or RICH TEXT; or use GMail, AOL, Comcast, MSN, HOTMAIL, or any other web based interface, it does not work. In this case, that line contains the requested command "subscribe" the list to apply the command to "newsletter" and the e-mail address to use in the command, "[EMAIL PROTECTED]". ALL sub scribe and un sub scribe messages MUST be PLAIN TEXT. Imail does not recognize any command that originates in HTML format - an issue that has created nothing but headaches for me over the last five years. Most web based clients, AOL, Comcast, Yahoo, Gmail, MSN and HOTMAIL all originate their messages in HTML format unless you jump through hoops to force plain text. Imail also does not recognize RICH TEXT. If they respond from a client that converts the message into an HTML or RICH TEXT message, or that includes an ATTACHMENT of the original message when they respond, it breaks the confirmation process.
