Wow...this if fixing to be a problem with us. I had to setup rules to delete
the bounce back messages since McAfee Webshield does not do any type of
queries to determine if the email exist...it just sends everything in. I am
getting ready to go to either a Barracuda or IronPort solution that uses
LDAP. We have several alias email addresses here. Does anyone have any
experience setting up LDAP using Alias addresses or a work around?

The main problem with implementation thus far of a new gateway service is
making the LDAP quieries understand the Imail aliases. Since Imail does not
publish the aliases in LDAP it refuses everything that is an alias. I tried
reading an Ipswitch KB article that is supposed to help with this, but I had
no luck. Unless you can help with that as well?

Why is your gateway server accepting email for non-existent addresses? That
is the problem and that is what you have to resolve.

I did find this in the logs:

11:23 15:36 SMTPD(63ed01a500000125) [65.74.132.77] Max Invalid RCPTs
Exceeded

This has never been an issue before - should I just up the limit in the SMTP
services settings from 20 to something higher until it plays nice? What the
recommended settings for dictionary attack? Is there a way to disable it?

All,

I noticed today that mail started not coming into the inboxes. I noticed
that my SMTP gateway server IP was in the Control Access List as to deny
email from it. I removed it from the list and after about 15 minutes it
pops back up in there. Does anyone know why this might be happening and how
to stop it? I did turn on verbose logging so I am going to download those
now to take a look.

Travis
