We have an older machine running windows 2000 - desktop, with Partition
Magic 7.0 installed on the machine.

We added cards to handle any type of drive interface, with multiple ports,
and it allows us to copy / clone drives of all kinds, in a matter of
minutes. Partition Magic recognizes all of the formats and operating
systems and sets up the drive accordingly.

If you use a version of Partition Magic that's higher than 7.0 it will not
allow the copying of server drives as the newer versions of Partition Magic
recognize the server OS and want Server Magic instead of Partition Magic.

The cloned drive works exactly the same way that the original drive works.

This was particularly helpful in downgrading a bunch of IBM desktops that
were shipped with windows XP to allow one of our medical clients to run
Windows 2000 because much of the software they run, for transmission of
billing data to places like WebMD, will not run on anything higher than
Windows 2000 machines. We simply created the first machine under Windows
2000 and then copied the drive to the other machines. Microsoft has a line
in thier licensing that allows you to DOWNGRADE from an operating system so
long as you have all of the necessary licenses for the original operating
system.

Preventing data loss to begin with is one of the best ways to prevent
headaches in our business!

Subject: [IMail Forum] hard drive clone software suggestions

I'm running our Imail platform on Windows 2003 Server, and we appear
to have a drive possibly going bad.

We've order some new drives but want to clone them to make the
transition easier.

Suggestions for hard drive cloning software that will work with SATA/
SATA2, Seagate Drives, and Windows 2003 Server?

Thank you.
