You may have the server set to Authenticate SMTP which as far as I know (I'm
currently searching for an option) the Mac does not support. This would be
with Netscape 4.7 and Outlook Express 5.0 for the Mac.
We have SMTP authentication enabled to try to prevent spammers.
But so far the only solution that I have come across is that software
designers have once again told Mac users to bend over and grab their ankles.

We're running Imail 5.08 on NT4 SP5. I have about 4 Imac subscribers =
and one of them it having problems with SMTP. I seem to recall this =
problem once before, but I *think* is was an issue with an earlier =
release of Imail.
Problem: OE4 returns the error message "Mail could not be sent at this =
time. The server returned the error: Unacceptable mail address".
Progress: We've verified that the SMTP server it correct (even tried =
using the IP Address instead). I've had him *Reply* to a message from =
me, so it's not a typo/etc. Verified that POP3 works fine.
Possibilities: (1)I have SMTP security enabled and am blocking any hack =
attempts/etc. (2) Maybe just that OE4 for Mac is buggy.
Anyone else ever have this problem?
