I have seen this happen in cases where there might be networking delays or dropped packets... I just had to deal with this scenario myself. There is probably much more info out there on this, but this might get you started.
Another place I have seen this is in places where Norton AV is installed on the desktop to scan incoming messages. It can become confused about the login information and misdeliver same to the server. The fix in this case is sometimes a reboot, and sometimes re-establishing the server info in OE, and sometimes more invasive. Hope this helps, _M | -----Original Message----- | From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Phil Siegrist | Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2002 4:08 PM | To: IMail_Forum@list. ipswitch. com | Subject: [IMail Forum] <no subject> | | | Hello All, | | I am running Imail 7.05. A user is getting an invalid password failure | when trying to pop her mail | down to Outlook Express. Config was double checked and nothing was | changed (according to | user). The sys log shows the following | | POP3D - Log on failure for <email> from <ip> | POP3D - Connection Aborted | | Can anyone shed some light on if this is indeed a password error or a | connection/client (Mac | OS/OE) problem. The connection aborted error is a lil vague for me and I | could not find anything | on the KB. Which btw seems pretty light helpful on content. | | -Phil Siegrist | | | Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html | to be removed from this list. | | An Archive of this list is available at: | http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ | | Please visit http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html to be removed from this list.
