I'm with Kirk, at the worst it would be O.K. Most people using an internal
mail server use Exchange, and sadly enough, looks count as much as
functionality in the ISP/Webhosting world.

I think a flash splash could be very beneficial. I would suggest throwing
in some of the more important instructions, such as logging out, along with
the animation. You know, the stuff they really should read on the
instructions page, but usually fly right past.
Obviously though, you'll need to have an alternate path for the
flash-impaired.
