Here is just a suggestion.
What is sounds like you need is a Layer 4 switch from Foundry Networks.
Then you need to have one computer that acts just as a file server storing
the users mailboxes. Set up the switch to load balance the traffic between
each of the mail servers.
This would be transparent to the user. It would also load balance
everything, SMTP, POP3, IMAP.
Anyone tried this?
