Hi Len,
i have talked to Jochen off list about his problem, sometimes its easier for
us to discuss things in german. He reported one strange thing to me.
If he telnets to port 25 of gw1.telekom.de he gets the response 200 OK.
If i try the same thing i get a response of 500 Command unrecognized.
I dont think its a problem of reverse lookup or DNS.
I tried from my machine with his machine name and i can send messages from
the telnet session.
Somehow the wrong message is delivered to his server from the helo command.
Can it be a problem of his firewall or router?
Any ideas?
Heinrich

Hey Jochen,
I don't think the EHLO refusal by gw1 is why gw1 is refusing your messages,
but yes, you should understand what's going on with EHLO / HELO
variations. It certainly didn't stop it from accepting my msg.
Have you turned on smtp debugging while attempting to send a few msgs to
gw1? maybe you'll see something in those details.
