Salvatore,
Are you using the IMail LDAP server?

We are doing the same - IMail is very straightforward to set up and
configure for multiple domains.
What I have found the best benefit is the integration with SQL. Our central
school database is on MS SQL 7. I created the fields in the database that
IMail needs. Now the assignment of an eMail address is simply part of the
admissions process. The LDAP info is drawn directly from the demographic
information and the system is self supporting. When a student leaves, they
are "inactivated" in our system. The view that provides IMail with its user
list filters only active students. When a student is added, only the userID
and password need to be entered - The SQL view "provides" IMail with the
Name, MAX values, etc. with the name and in the order that IMail expects.
It works great. We have an enrollment of 1900 students and I have NEVER
manually "created" an account for any of them. Let me know if you want more
info on this.
