For those Imail admins out there who need to debug what the heck is going
on with Imail from the mail client's viewpont, you can use the extensive
multi-level Eudora logging, down to every byte sent/received if needed, in
free Eudora Pro 4.31. www.Eudora.com
The Eudora on-line help for 'log' word will get you into the .hlp
explanation of logging in the eudora.ini file and you have this URL:
http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/ini.html#Heading12
To get logging turned on, you have to add a [section] to the .ini file like
this:
[Debug]
LogFileName=EUDORA.LOG
LogFileSize=300
LogLevel=27
... where the log level is a decimal number computed from adding up the bit
switches explained in the docs.
I imagine this could be useful for tracking down the elusive "multiple
send's" pb, and maybe even the "re-downloading" pb currently. It would be
interesting to see the Eudora log of SMPT AUTH failures, too.
Who knows, an irate client asked to debug his MS LookOut! pb's by
installing Eudora so you can see his log might even prefer Eudora.
