Hello all,
I wrote the other day about using Imail as a mail gateway.
We have Imail 6.03 running for the community and Alumnimail. We will provide email
service for those that attended Albion college and community members.
We use Novel with Groupwise as our primary email software However, our boss would like
to move more twords Win 2000. Currently we use Linux as our DNS and sendmail. The
Linux box is our mail gateway.
Now we have a problem to figure out. Since management would like to move twords MS
products we will be leaving the Linux box. Our DNS is now running on a Win 2000 box
and also DHCP. They seem to be running fine but, we are not sure what direction we
want to go with the mail gateway.
One option was to use the Sendmail for NT but it only works well on a NT4.0 box. The
other option is to use another box and put Imail on it for our mail gateway.
We have 1500 students 200 staff members and 120 community accounts. The students and
staff use email very heavely!
So, question is, if we use Imail as a mail gateway (send mail) what performance should
we expect?
Should we use sendmail for NT or is their someone that knows that Linux would be the
best answer here.
We are in the testing phase at the college so, if anyone could give us some advice it
would be great.
Thank you.
