Backward compatibility maybe? sheesh .. if you hate drive letters, use UNC ..

Sorry, MS bashing is getting a bit on my nerves -- I mean, we run dozens of 
FreeBSD, IRIX,  and SunOS servers, as well as a very high percentage of our 
workstations being Solaris, doesn't mean I'm forced to harp on Microsoft. I 
realize it's trendy, but we don't all have to be trend-followers now, do we?
