Have you looked at Infinite interchange??  (www.ihub.com) (again doesn't have a com interface) We use it as a web-based IMAP client for our IMail servers (we like the IMail SQL database connectivity, or we would if it was supported properly).

The web front end on interchange seems to be more customisable, also available in a load balancing friendly version for big systems.

Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] COM Wrapper

Basically, the reason for doing all this is, I've been tasked with building a "Hotmail.com" type web-messaging system. IMail is not a requirement, but the boss said to consider using it. However, they don't want to use the built-in templates, they want it to be ASP COM-based. I don't know what other options there are... Suggestions welcomed!

Thanks Len. I'll look at the RFCs. I'm also taking a look at the Command Line stuff now, but I'd rather not make Command-Line calls from COM.. (ugh!)

Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] COM Wrapper

I haven't started using IMail yet, but I've been tasked with the job of building a COM wrapper for all of IMail's functionality.

I bet this is from a pointy beaded person, no?  vbg

 1) Does anyone know if this has already been done, and where to get it?

Imail has no proprietary "API" or COM object orientation.

Any pgm communicates with Imail via RFC protocols.  Many of Imail' internal processes often communicate with themselves via RFC protocols.

 2) Does IMail have DLLs which expose functions?

no, this is an old item on the wishlist

 3) Is there documentation of IMail's functions?

See the RFC's listed in the Imail user guide .pdf.
