Actually, Sendmail *shouldn't* touch the Date: header! If you can, it would be
interesting to see what the headers are after they pass through Sendmail, to see what
it does. However, SMTP servers really shouldn't touch any existing headers.
FYI, the "Date: " header just bit Microsoft where it counts. "... the bug involves
jamming too much data into the date field in the header of an e-mail" [see
http://www.msnbc.com/news/432208.asp?cp1=1 to see the article about a VERY nasty new
bug in Outlook that gives hackers access to the users' hard drive].
