If we check the "Relay for local hosts only" then our users can only send mail through our server to other users from us, and not to anyone else that do not have a domain hosted with us, the same goes for "Relay for local users only".
That's not true (unless I read it wrong). If you use Relay for
local hosts only, then any e-mail addresses TO or FROM a domain on
your server will pass through IMail. Using Local Users Only, will do
the same thing, except IMail will check to see if that user has an
account under that domain before relaying (I believe aliases won't
work). At least this way the spammer has to know or guess a username
under the account they are spamming through.
I personally advise my clients to use their dialup ISP's mail
server for outgoing messages anyway. With alot of dialup accounts,
(such as my own Mindspring) they can't connect to a remote SMTP
server while connected to their ISP anyway. Makes it a pain for me,
because I can't even send e-mail through my own mail server. LOL
