sending to email accounts on your server is not the pb, it's sending from
not-Relay-For addresses to non-Imail accounts, ie, relaying from unknown ip
to non-Imail, unkown remote mail account.

These protocols, http and pop3, never a pb for SPAM since neither can be
used for sending bulk mail at all.
in fact, you can send even on msg with pop3, which is strictly a mailbox
reading protocol, not a mail sending protocol.
The protocol at risk is SMTP.

no effect, since the remote user outside of your ip's is sending over SMTP
to a local Imail account,ie, the list server account.

no, just the ip's you "trust". For all the others, you require the remote
senders to identify themselves "as local Imail users" by having them use
SMTP AUTH in the mail program FOR RELAYING THEIR OUTBOUND MAIL through your
Imail. SMTP AUTH means that Imail will send the remote mail pgm a key,
which the remote program uses to encode the POP3 username+password. When
Imail gets that gobblegook back, it looks up the username and pw in its
local-to-Imail accounts. If ok, Imail treats the remote user, on no matter
what ip "as local user", and will relay that user's mail to wherever.

This, of course, assumes ISP's like GTE even allow their DUL's to send to
port 25 on non-GTE ip's. )
