Alex,

No, the 'circular' references, I mentioned, are intentional and expected by
IMail, between the IP folders data, and the 'domain name' folders data, I.E.
The IP folder has a field 'Official' which has the 'domain name' and the
Domain name folder has a field, 'Address', which has the IP. This is what
IMail wants and if not correct, can cause problems with one or more of the
domains configuration. Often, just changing (or adding) the correct registry
entry will 'fix' these problems.

IMail Admin is not the only tool or application that accesses the registry!
Corruption can occur for reasons that are not related to IMail. I recall at
least one instance when a tool like PCAnyWhere, was in use, and when that
was open, it restricted access to the registry, for other programs. So
changes that should have been made, were not. Would this not qualify as
'corruption'?

Also, the times I have seen these registry problems, was when the user made
changes via IMail admin, that were incorrect, incomplete or did not answer
one of the questions asked by IAdmin, correctly. Most often, the problem
occurs with the Primary IP and/or the 'Official Host Name' being changed, or
the user picked the 'wrong' IP (he picked the Primary, when it should have
been one of the secondaries) when creating a new domain. Often these
problems can be fixed within IMail Administrator, but describing exactly how
is not easy. Easier, is to use Regedit and make a few simple changes there.

I won't say that IMail Admin is perfect, but if one has any questions, when
adding, modifying, deleting domains, it always pays, to backup, then try the
change. Or ask someone else, who has more experience, what should be done
and (god forbid!), RTM!

If using an external DB, you do need to use the Registry backup, for data
(aliases, lists, etc...) other than the user accounts (and you need to
backup the DB!).
