Here's a problem that has been bugging me and Ipswitch Tech Support is at a
loss to explain it.

Currently we're in the process of migrating our users from PMDF on VMS to
Imail. Approximately 250 users have been migrated. About a month ago rogue
smpt32.exe processes are not properly terminating and have to be "killed"
manually.

Currently our Imail server is not listed in the MX records. We're doing all
the mail forwarding from the VMS box to the Imail server using the
forwarding features on VMS. Shortly the imail server will be listed as the
primary MX and the VMS machine will no longer be in the mail loop. My
concern/question is whether this will resolve the problem or make the
problem much worse than it already is. Is this problem resulting from Imail
getting "confused" since itself is not listed in the MX records.

At it stands right now I have to check and imail server several times a day
to kill about a couple dozen of the stranded processes. Otherwise once the
limit of processes has been reached the email backs up in the queue.
