First, you shouldn't use the "relay to local users only" option; this is WORSE than no
relay protection. This encourages spammers to use a return address on YOUR domain
(which they can easily do), and then you will get a LOT more hate mail from the
recipients of the spam that gets sent through your system.
As far as having anti-virus and relay protection, it isn't easy. With WebShield SMTP
you can set it to only accept relaying for certain IP addresses. But, you can't do
SMTP authentication for people outside those IP addresses, so they would have to
connect directly to IMail. That also means that some of your E-mail isn't going to
get scanned for viruses. It's the price you currently have to pay for using virus
scanning (although it's something that I'm working on).
