Delivering locally on Imail requires no DNS lookups. But all remote deliveries require Imail to query DNS. If you say some remote mail is being delivered, then Imail's DNS would appear to be working. For the domains that Imail fails to deliver, do the MX lookup yourself, like Imail would, then telnet to the MX and see it the MX is responding as a mail server. telnet ip-of-MX 25 or telnet MX-hostname 25 then be polite and type quit to close the session.
