Stephen,
Yes it does! (and a lot more, but more is OK).
Here is the lines that bother me:
> 09:20 10:34 SMTP-(0000091C) processing C:\IMail\spool\Qcaba0d0.SMD
> 09:20 10:34 SMTP-(0000091C) Trying ipswitch.com (0)
> 09:20 10:34 SMTP-(0000091C) MX connect fail "156.21.1.5"
> 09:20 10:35 SMTP-(0000091C) MX connect fail "216.104.149.100"
> 09:20 10:35 SMTP-(0000091C) Stack connect fail "156.21.1.170"
> 09:20 10:35 SMTP-(0000091C) requeuing C:\IMail\spool\Qcaba0d0.SMP R0 T1
> 09:20 10:35 SMTP-(0000091C) finished C:\IMail\spool\Qcaba0d0.SMP status=3
The MX values are correct for a message coming to me, but for some reason
your computer is not connecting to my server or my secondary server. This
may mean that there is no 'route' between you and me and that would not be
good.
On the computer running IMail, open the Telnet program, enter the IP of your
commputer and the port as 25 and see if it connects (should see a response
like: 220 X1 NT-ESMTP Server 'yourdomain' (IMail 6.04 1208-3)). If this
works (and it should), then type 'quit' and start a new connection, this
time using the 156.21.1.5 IP and you should again see the response, but from
my mail server. If it does, then we have to figure out why IMail cannot when
the system can (do you have multiple NIC cards in this computer? Are they on
'different' networks with no route between them? If preceeding is true,
IMail may not be installed 'correctly' and there maybe a quick fix [BindToIP
in KB] that can help). If it does not, then you have to figure out why the
computer cannot connect to the outside addresses (routing problems??). Is
there a firewall or Proxy installed on the same computer as IMail? Or
outside IMail?
IMail is going through all the right processes, MX records are being
resolved to correct addresse, but IMail (and/or the OS) is not able to
connect to some (or all!) hosts.
