MX is one of the "resource record" types in the DNS distributed database.

MX data field is a Fully Qualified Host Name, FQHN for geeks, that
tells remote mail servers wanting to send mail to @domain.com where
to send it. So the DNS MX record points to your Imail machine's
hostname. MX hostnames have nothing to do with Imail mail hostnames.

>What do I need to fill in here?

Something like this, your choice:

mail.PatrickMast.com
smtp.PatrickMast.com
mx.PatrickMast.com
SendItHereDude.PatrickMast.com

>It also seems that I can add more that one MX entry?

yes, multiple MX's are allowed and encouraged. They are prioritized
with a "preference number", lower the number, higher the
prefence. This provides backup mailserver when MX 10 is down, the
sender tries MX 20, then MX 30.

MX 10 mail.PatrickMast.com
MX 20 mail.BeforeTheMast.com
MX 30 mail.Mastodon.com

The end result of a sending mail server querying DNS for MX records
for a @recipientdomain.com is an ip address to which the SMTP
connection will be made to attemtpt to deliver the mail.

>Where do I need to put this in IMail?

MX records go in DNS zone files, not in Imail. MX records have
nothing to do with Imail mail hostnames. MX records have nothing to
do with Imail mail hostnames. MX records have nothing to do with
Imail mail hostnames.

In Imail, you create a default mail hostname of PatrickMast.com and
an hailhost alias of mail.PatrickMast.com.

Please download the excellent IMail6 manual.

If you are going to operate you own DNS, spend some time on the
BIND8NT site in my sig, esp the "run a public DNS" page.
