Subject: [IMail Forum] Strange problem moving Imail server

This past weekend, I moved Imail to a new server. I put a fresh copy of
Server NT4 with Sp6a, got everything I cold think of set up, and then
installed imail. That went just fine. Then I stopped the old Imail
server,
did a backup of the registry, copied the Imail directory over to the new
Imail server, and - with a high amt of diligence - restored the registry
and
changed all the registry paths and IP addresses to point to the correct
location. It looked like everything came up correctly, just like it
should.

Then this morning I got some phone calls from my customers saying that
they
had trouble with their accounts. When I looked at Imail admin, the
account
was not their. When I went to the directory that represented that user's
domain, the directory DID exist. I then opened up the backup registry
file
in notepad and did a search for that user ID, and I found it.

To fix the problem, all I had to do was go to the domain in Imail Admin
and
add the user back in. All the user's previous data (like full first name
and last name...) was there. In some cases I had to reset the password
(which brings up a question... what is the default password for a new
Imail
account?)

Anyway, I got all the fires put out but I would like to know if I did
anything wrong, either when I built the new computer or did something
wrong
on a daily basis with the old one. Sorry, I have not spent the time to
find
a correlation between the working accounts and the non-working accounts.

Thanks!

Matt
