It's *very* possible, with the right conditions: 1) you must be using an
external database, and 2) you must be working with the primary host (domain)
as the default user database. (It may work under less stringent conditions,
but we haven't tested all possibilities.)
We've got it working at http://killerwebmail.com... you'll see a checkbox on
the login page, giving you the option of using our Classic templates instead
of the Killer templates. There is no limit to the number of alternative
template sets you could have as options; eventually, we'll offer Spanish,
French, German, etc. template sets, and have all as options off the login
page.
The basic idea is this: create a "dummy" virtual domain (ours is called
"Classic" as the official host name... that's right, no dot-com), put a Web
directory containing the customized templates in its directory, then
configure it to use the SAME external database and table as the primary
host. The only change to our Classic templates necessary was changing
instances of the <!--IMAIL.CurrentDomain--> tag to
<!--IMAIL.PrimaryDomain-->, to avoid confusing users with
"theirname@classic" displays. Then, a bit of Javascript trickery upon login
auto-appends the "@classic" to their username if they have that option
checked, and bingo-bongo, they're logged in to the alternative template set.
Hope this helps,
Ron
