My main mail site official host name is "mail.stat.com" with the alias
set to "stat.com".

This presents a problem that all listserv type mail originates with the
"mail.stat.com" address.

If I swap the two, ie official name to stat.com and alias to
mail.stat.com it would fix this problem BUT I see that the connections
will be from stat.com instead of mail.stat.com to other smtp servers.
I assume I would then need to setup a reverse DNS record for stat.com
so other systems could verify me?

Anyone see any problems with this plan? I just thought it was a no-no
to have the root domain name with either an A address or reverse
address?
