Nothing that Imail did, interferes with the MMC. If the MMC snap-in is not
there, then your IIS install did not function properly. Try to open the MMC
and manually add the snap-in. If you're lucky, it has at least registered
itself.
Otherwise, get MetaEdit (IIS4 Resource Kit, or Win2K Resource Kit) which
allows you to update the Metabase (that's where the port information is
stored) directly.
As far as permissions - if you're sending from an anonymous web user, make
sure that user has been set up as "permitted". Frankly - since you can't
get to the MMC, I can only imagine that NONE of the MS-SMTP settings are
even correctly initialized, including the list of valid hosts (localhost,
127.0.0.1, etc.) that are permitted to "route" mail through SMTP.
If you can't manually add the SMTP and NNTP snap-in, then your real solution
is to reinstall the Option Pack 4 (assuming you are NT4), then reinstall
SP6a, then reinstall all the security fixes since then. If you're lucky, by
tonight, you have a properly working IIS with SMTP. During the install,
make sure you have Imail SMTP turned off - just in case MS checks if port 25
is even available (that's just good procedure, I don't think MS cares).
