Nope - CDO/NTS does NOT use the SMTP protocol to communicate with the IIS
SMTP service - it uses an internal API. THAT is why you need to have IIS
SMTP running on THAT machine.
Other solutions uses standard SMTP protocols (they are basically SMTP
mailers) and communicate with ANY SMTP server on ANY available host. If you
want, you can point those tools to your "localhost" in which case they will
contact Imail on Imail's port 25 to pass the email.
In either case, you need to stop ONE of your conflicting SMTP services for
now - either IMail or IIS SMTP.
