Well, we're on-board with Megapop, but we have a big problem.
They forwarded us a list of their IP blocks so we could enter them into
IMAIL for SMTPAUTH. Problem -- they have 4 pages of /24 blocks! We got
through about a page and a half, and the imail GUI choked on a fur ball and
said "FILE SIZE LIMIT REACHED" - YIKES! Now what do we do?
First, I can't believe Ipswitch requires this stuff to be hand-keyed into
the GUI. The informaiton is stored in a file on disk called SMTPD32.LOC -
alas, this is a binary file and cannot be edited outside of the GUI. The
file megapop sent us was an ASCII file in "SendMail Allow" format. I'm
assuming that if we were using Unix Sendmail, all we'd have to do is plop
this file in the sendmail directory (or merge it with one already in place)
and we'd be done.
Secondly, I can't believe that megapop has /24 blocks! Ziplink had /16's and
/17's. Now we have 4 pages of somewhat non-consecutive /24's, and Imail
won't allow them all into the GUI. Unless there is a way to enter them all
in, we probably will have to find the consecutive blocks and consolidate
them into /22's or /21's or whatever works, even though that may "allow"
blocks that don't belong to Megapop. But we have to cut down the number of
entries in the list by about 65% so that all of the blocks fit in the GUI.
How has everyone else using Megapop dealt with this?
